Dr. W.S. Gray wins Best Paper Award in International Conference on System Theory

Prof. W. Steven Gray from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Luis A. Duffaut Espinona (University of Vermont, Ph.D., ODU, 2009) and Laurence T. Kell (ICCAT Secretariat, Madrid, Spain) recently won the best paper award at the 21st International Conference on System Theory, Control and Computing held in the resort city of Sinaia, Romania during October 19-21, 2017 (http://www.icstcc2017.ac.tuiasi.ro).

Co-sponsored by the IEEE Control Systems Society, this annual conference draws scientists and engineers from academia and industry to discuss the state of the art and new trends in systems and control theory. Adaptive Discrete-time Fliess Operator Approximations” describes a mathematical framework under which one can adapt automatic control techniques commonly used in aircraft auto-pilots and autonomous vehicles to analogous problems found in biological systems, in particular, the control of fish population levels in commercial fisheries. The problem was inspired by Dr. (…)
